DIY Belly Basket Crochet Pattern

Hi guys! As usual, I'm bursting at the seams to show you my newest crochet pattern! For months I had been seeing these gorgeous sea-grass "belly baskets" all over Pinterest. They're a little Bohemian and a little Scandinavian and oh so chic, You can find them with pom pom details, tassels, in solid colours, or with eye catching designs.

I wanted one for every room in my house!

Unfortunately, I couldn't get my hands on any. I searched through my local shops & big box stores but in my neck of the woods there just weren't any available (that I could find anyway). I thought about ordering online (twist my rubber arm) but in the end I wondered if I could recreate the look using my good ole crochet hook and some simple cotton yarn. It took several tries but I was finally able to recreate the curvy basket I had been searching for. Yay!

My basket is more flexible than it's sea-grass inspiration but still functions the same way. I already have one for my lonely house plant, one for my overflowing yarn stash, and I'm working on a third for my children's playroom. What room of the house would you make one for? What would be in it?
